5 Month Update

Connor now weighs 14.4 pounds! I knew he was getting heavy because it is so hard for me to carry him in his carrier anymore. It takes all my strength to lift him and take him anywhere in that. It will be much easier when he can completely be able to hold his head up on his own and we can just carry him without the carrier. We’ve been pretty lucky so far with no colds, stomach bugs, or ear infections and with warm weather now, hopefully we can avoid all of the above. Connor really likes to grab a hold of things now. He reaches out for things he wants and has a tight little grip when he gets it. He smiles all the time. His hair is slowly starting to grow and yes it is still reddish. He sleeps great at night and is so easy to put down. He goes to bed around 8:30 and sleeps until 6:00 or 6:30 the next morning. He hardly ever cries, and if he does it is usually because he is hungry or sleepy. All around he is a very happy baby! He sucks his thumb a whole lot, but still doesn’t take a paci. He takes about 5-5 ½ ounces of formula every 3 hours or so and he loves to play. One of his favorite things is to lie on a pallet on the floor and play. He tries to catch his feet and put them in his mouth. He loves toys that light up and play music. It’s amazing to watch him study a new object or toy; his face gets this look of wonder and he raises an eyebrow and then wants to touch it and put it in his mouth. It’s really cute. He wants to put everything in his mouth and he is a drooling machine! He is still in size 1 diapers, but he will go to size 2 very soon. He is also in size 3-6 month clothes, but the majority he wears is 3 months because he has no waist. We are truly blessed to have such a healthy and handsome baby boy!

Oral Surgeon Take Two

Yesterday we took Connor back to the oral surgeon. He said Connor had Hemangioma, which is an abnormal buildup of blood vessels in the skin, or lip in his case. He said it would have to be removed, but he wouldn't do the procedure until Connor was at least 8 or 9 months old because he will have to be put to sleep and hospitalized. He said it shouldn't get any bigger, but if it does or if it starts bleeding or anything abnormal to call, otherwise we go back in August.

I have done my own research of Hemangioma and I am not 100% convinced that is what it is. I haven't seen any pictures that resemble anything like what Connor has. Also, it says in most cases it goes away on its own (but I did find one source that said if it was on the lip, it would have to be removed). I also read that it gets bigger, Connor's hasn't changed since we first noticed it.

I am going to continue to pray that it will just go away on its own sometime soon and until then, continue to do research on Hemangioma until I actually believe 100% that is what he has.

Happy 1st Mother's Day

Happy 1st Mother’s Day to me! It was exactly one year ago that we found out we were pregnant with our sweet little baby boy. Time has really flown by. Clay did an amazing job making me feel special and appreciated! He had everything planned out and ready to go. After church, he said we were going on a picnic. I thought sandwiches and chips and a blanket. I was wrong. He had the charcoal grill in the back of his truck and bought steaks, baked beans, salad, corn on the cob, and dessert. So we all spent the afternoon under a big tree on a blanket. It was so nice to relax and talk and play with Connor outside. I got the sweetest card from Connor with a gift card to the spa and Clay had bought me a card too!

Even though being a mom is a job that totally consumes you & never seems to end, there’s nothing in the whole world that I would rather do. I love being a mom. I feel so lucky & so blessed that I was chosen to be Connor’s mommy. He makes the worst of days disappear when he gives me that big grin of his. His smile just makes me smile.

This weekend Connor found his feet too! So all weekend he was grabbing and playing with his feet trying to get them to his mouth. It was so cute to watch. I have pictures I’ll post later.
