Oral Surgeon Take Two

Yesterday we took Connor back to the oral surgeon. He said Connor had Hemangioma, which is an abnormal buildup of blood vessels in the skin, or lip in his case. He said it would have to be removed, but he wouldn't do the procedure until Connor was at least 8 or 9 months old because he will have to be put to sleep and hospitalized. He said it shouldn't get any bigger, but if it does or if it starts bleeding or anything abnormal to call, otherwise we go back in August.

I have done my own research of Hemangioma and I am not 100% convinced that is what it is. I haven't seen any pictures that resemble anything like what Connor has. Also, it says in most cases it goes away on its own (but I did find one source that said if it was on the lip, it would have to be removed). I also read that it gets bigger, Connor's hasn't changed since we first noticed it.

I am going to continue to pray that it will just go away on its own sometime soon and until then, continue to do research on Hemangioma until I actually believe 100% that is what he has.

Happy 1st Mother's Day

Happy 1st Mother’s Day to me! It was exactly one year ago that we found out we were pregnant with our sweet little baby boy. Time has really flown by. Clay did an amazing job making me feel special and appreciated! He had everything planned out and ready to go. After church, he said we were going on a picnic. I thought sandwiches and chips and a blanket. I was wrong. He had the charcoal grill in the back of his truck and bought steaks, baked beans, salad, corn on the cob, and dessert. So we all spent the afternoon under a big tree on a blanket. It was so nice to relax and talk and play with Connor outside. I got the sweetest card from Connor with a gift card to the spa and Clay had bought me a card too!

Even though being a mom is a job that totally consumes you & never seems to end, there’s nothing in the whole world that I would rather do. I love being a mom. I feel so lucky & so blessed that I was chosen to be Connor’s mommy. He makes the worst of days disappear when he gives me that big grin of his. His smile just makes me smile.

This weekend Connor found his feet too! So all weekend he was grabbing and playing with his feet trying to get them to his mouth. It was so cute to watch. I have pictures I’ll post later.

He Rolled Over

I picked Connor up from daycare today and Miss Vicki said he rolled over again this afternoon. When we got home, I layed him on a blanket on his stomach and played with him until he was ready for his nap. I thought he was half asleep so I got up and went into the kitchen to open the mail. When I went back in there like 2 minutes later, he was on his back...I thought, man I missed it again. This time I decided I wasn't going to leave his sight, so I got my camera and was ready. Finally, it happened...he rolled over!

Oral Surgeon

So we took Connor to the oral surgeon yesterday afternoon for a second opinion on his upper lip. We didn't find out much more than we already knew. He said he had not seen this in a child so young and he needed to do some research and consult with a pathologist. He said he didn't think it was a tumor, but he couldn't tell us exactly what it was. He wants to see him back in 2 weeks and see if it looks the same, even though I told him it has been there for 2 months now. He said they might have to hospitalize and sedate little Connor and remove it. I personally think he is way to young for that and I don't know if I would go through with that just yet! I'm just hoping and praying that by some miracle, it will go away on its on. He did say to try to keep the paci away from him as much as possible and to try the Nuk pacifiers and see if he would take those if he had to have one. So, I missed 2 hours of work for him to tell us just to come back in 2 weeks. Maybe the pathologist will have a better answer for us when we go back. I'll try to take a picture of his lip and post later this week.
